Family of the bride

Tommi and Imba were doing great. Nice villa. A jeep for Tommi and a compact car for Imba. Trips abroad until their travel interest changed and their marriage got close to its expiration day. While Imba traveled to sunny beaches, Tommi went fishing. Imba worked hard on her drinking during her sunny trips and most of the time she came back home with a terrible hangover and badly sunburn on one side. Finally, Tommi had had enough. He decided that they would jointly decide to separate pro tempore and Imba would go into rehab. Or as he said: you make the right decision and later on you’ll find out if it was the wrong one, and they could look at this like housecleaning. It was about time to inject some Ajax into their life.

Atli had moved but Inga was still living at home. She couldn’t really pretend not to notice the racket her parents were making before their divorce. Sometimes she tried to discuss it with her dad but he said that it was their life and their racket and that she should just ignore it and gave her 8GB iPod and headphones. When Inga’s parents told her they were going to separate and that her mom was going into rehab her secure world crashed and she started to hang out with Lara, her best friend who stood by her one hundred percent. Sound and safe from the battlefield Atli acted cool, but his concern about his little sister wasn’t as cool.

Tommi kept the villa, the jeep and the fishing rods. Since Imba was entering rehab where they would have all the furniture she needed, Tommi didn’t see any reason for her to bring a bunch of furniture with her so the furniture stayed where they belonged. Imba went into rehab and met Svanur, so instead of going to Dyrafjordur like she intended after rehab, she and Svanur went to Kopavogur and joined a congregation. At first, Imba tried to hide the new relationship, but when they moved to an apartment building in West Reykjavik she couldn’t really keep it a secret anymore. So the temporary separation became permanent and Imba traded off her compact car for cheaper one so they could fix Svanur’s trade deficit that was always almost about making it big in business.

Inga and Tommi lived alone in the villa. Her dad’s pedantry: don’t stand so close, not so loud, isn’t this a bit too much, you spilled some, don’t daub this on the furniture, a burden she and her mom had shared and could pretend not to hear now pestered Inga’s ears as a constant draught and after 2 months she gave up and took off. Inga had met Bardi and Grjoni at Café Paris where she worked. To tell the truth she was far more interested in Grjoni to start with but in the end she settled for Bardi and when Inga fled her home she took refuge with Bardi that welcomed her with open arms. And there she is and likes it a lot and it doesn’t hurt that Bardi is easy to manage and never squabbles.

Atli doesn’t like Bardi. He thinks Bardi isn’t good enough for his little sister but when Inga has decided something it is no way to get her to change her mind. If anything, she just becomes more determined. Actually Atli doesn’t have a clue why he doesn’t like Bardi. He can’t find any fault with the guy and perhaps that’s the reason he doesn’t like him.
